Who We Are

A Team That Loves to Create

Meet Noah Ormsby

My journey in the building world started where all the best stories do — working alongside family. As a young man, I learned the trade at my father’s side, a plumbing contractor who showed me what honest, quality work looked like. It didn’t take long for me to fall in love with the craft of building and renovating homes.

I knew early on that if I was going to do this, I wanted to do it right. So I made a commitment to learn every aspect of construction from the ground up — literally. I spent at least a year working in each trade, from pouring concrete foundations to pulling electrical wire. That hands-on experience gave me something invaluable: not just the skills to build and remodel with confidence, but the understanding to lead and oversee every part of a project.

Over the next three decades, I deepened my expertise in the Minnesota Residential Building Code and the Minnesota Energy Code. That knowledge led companies across the state to seek me out as a consultant for building failure analysis, water intrusion issues, and project management.

In 2006, I took the leap and began building and selling homes on my own. When the housing market crashed in 2008, it hit hard — but life has a way of opening unexpected doors. I found myself in a high school classroom in St. Paul, teaching talented young people the ins and outs of construction. It was one of the most rewarding chapters of my career.

As the market recovered, I jumped back in — building and remodeling homes for customers and for resale, while also working as a project manager for one of the Twin Cities’ larger builders. At one point, I was juggling up to 26 projects at once. But the most important project of my life was raising my two boys as a full-time single father. When it became clear that I needed to be more present for them, the choice was easy. I returned to building and remodeling independently, and I got to be the dad they deserved.

Today, the boys are grown and thriving on their own. Life threw me another curveball when I was diagnosed with cancer. I wasn’t finding the care I needed in the Cities, but as fate would have it, I had also met my wonderful partner. Together, we discovered Duluth — and everything changed. Switching my care to Essentia gave me better options, and the beauty of the Northland helped heal not just my body, but my spirit.

I’m proud to call Duluth home, and I couldn’t be more excited to bring over 30 years of experience, craftsmanship, and genuine care to my Northland neighbors.

Oh — and I’m very happy to say that I am in remission. ❤️
